Powell Chiropractic

Founded on the simple principal that people should be vibrant and healthy their whole life.

Welcome to Powell Chiropractic, located in
Franconia, New Hampshire.

The purpose of chiropractic in general is based on the theory that nerve interference creates an imbalance and disease in the body. This nerve interference causes the body to lose its ability to function optimally and ill-health eventually results. Nerve interference is most commonly caused by misalignment of one or more of the movable bones of the spine. They are predominantly caused by stresses and impacts to the body from poor posture, poor sleeping habits, slips and falls, vehicle accidents, sports injuries, strenuous exercise, over exertion, work injuries, childhood falls and even the birth process. Chiropractic is devoted to evaluating and clearing these nerve interferences and allowing the body to heal itself, also known as innate intelligence.

Our mission at Powell Chiropractic is to educate and motivate our patients to improve and maintain a healthy holistic lifestyle such as eating whole (unprocessed) foods, moving and stretching their bodies daily, getting sufficient rest and sunshine, drinking quality water, breathing fresh air and cultivating a heart filled with joy and passion by doing things they love. These improvements in lifestyle coupled with maintaining a healthy spine are the keys to living a long, healthy and active life, doing the things you like to do, all the days of your life.

Dean H. Powell, DC

Dr. Powell graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri in August of 2011. After graduation, he and his wife, Janet, moved to Owego, NY and began practicing with good friend and mentor, Dr. John I. Perestam and his son, Dr. Alan Perestam. In May of 2012, while maintaining their practice in Owego, the couple started making routine trips back to Franconia, NH, where they had continued to maintain their family home, and started seeing patients on a part-time basis. In October of the same year, Dr. Dean and Janet made their final move back to Franconia where they now see patients four days a week, in a newly converted home office, helping people through  chiropractic, nutrition and whole body wellness.

Janet Powell, Office Manager

Our chiropractic journey began in 1992, when an urgent call to the new alternative chiropractor in town, changed the trajectory of our lives forever. After one visit, Dr. John I. Perestam was able to relieve our young daughter’s labored breathing and shortness in breath, allowing her to sleep soundly that night and completley recover by the next morning. As she bounded out of bed and eagerly readied herself for school, we stood looking at eachother with amazement. A paradigm shift happend in that moment.

From that time on, plans were set in motion to help people through chiropractic.  Many many moons later, when our children were grown and off to college themselves and Dean had completed his undergrad work at a local college, he was admitted to Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO.

Upon graduation from Logan College in 2011, we moved to Owego, New York at the invitation of the very chiropractor, Dr John I. Perestam, who had helped heal our daughter back in 1992.  It was our honor to accept the invitation to learn as much as we could from this great man. Dean interned with Dr. Perestam and his son, also a chiropractor, Dr. Alan Perestam, and I worked with their office staff to gain the insights of running a chiropractic office. Ten months later, we were back in New Hampshire, setting up and converting part of our home to be a chiropractic office.

The chiropractic profession is aligned with nature….. to remove interferences in the body so it can actually function the way it was designed to function. We were born to heal naturally. People come into the office, saying “you are my last hope”. They worry they will always have chronic pain and limited movement. But with the helping hands of chiropractic and their own fortitude and commitment, they are very often able to return to the life they once knew and loved. There is no greater reward in this profession than to witness the miracles of chiropractic.
